SINGAPORE – Cooler Master today launched the new V Gold V2 series power supply units. Though the first version of this series launched only last year, this decision falls in line with how the company has developed products over the last few years. Rather than sit on a design for several years, such as with the original V Gold series from 2014, Cooler Master now continuously evolves their products based on user feedback and demand. In this way, the V Gold V2 is focused more on noteworthy incremental, and sometimes subtle, improvements rather than a huge evolutionary step from its predecessor unit.
“We strive to meet not just the needs but also the desires of consumers and actively listen to feedback from our fans. Simply put, our goal is to ensure end users are more than happy with the products they purchase from Cooler Master. When they say something like add another EPS connector, we deliver as quickly as possible,” said Eason Hao, General Manager of Cooler Master’s Power Business Unit.
The V Gold V2 is more than just an additional EPS connector though. It offers a number of performance enhancements over the previous version such as noticeably improved efficiency and noise curves. Also, the V2 units meet all Intel ATX 12V V2.52 specification guidelines. In this way, the V Gold V2 series is a valuable upgrade especially for much older unit.
Another special feature of this revised series is that all models are available in white casing with a full set of flat white cables. Now users can have a bit more freedom when deciding what the color scheme of their system will be.
Pricing & Availability The V Gold V2 series is now available in Singapore.

BMW was the first to integrate the iPod in their vehicles, the first to offer wireless CarPlay and now it will be the first to introduce support for the BMW Digital Key stored securely in the Apple Wallet for the iPhone. The upcoming BMW Digital Key for the iPhone will enable customers to simply tap to unlock their vehicle and drive off by placing the iPhone in the smartphone tray and pushing the start button. Setup of the Digital Key can be done through the BMW Smartphone App, which is also compatible with the Apple Watch. The car owner can also share access with up to five friends including a configurable car access option for young drivers which restricts top speed, horsepower, maximum radio volume and more. Management of access can be done from inside the car as well as through the Apple Wallet. If the iPhone turns off due to low battery, a power reserve function ensures the digital car keys still function for up to five hours. The BMW Group was quick to recognise the potential of smartphones as digital keys – if done right. Standardising the Digital Key contributes to improved user experience, security and availability in smartphone models all of which were key to the BMW Group strategy for the Digital Key right from the start. Apple and BMW have been working closely with the Car Connectivity Consortium to press ahead with the establishment of global standards. The Digital Key specification 2.0 for Near-Field Communication has been released in May 2020, while the next generation of Digital Key using Ultra Wideband technology is already well underway. BMW is excited to announce the availability of Digital Key for iPhone in 45 countries for a broad range of models including the 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, and 8 Series, as well as the X5, X6, X7, X5M and X6M as well as the Z4 if manufactured after 1 July 2020. Compatible iPhone models will be iPhone XR, iPhone XS or newer and Apple Watch Series 5 or newer. BMW and Apple have also announced a new feature that will make it easier than ever for CarPlay users to take BMW electric vehicles on longer journeys by automatically taking into account when and where to charge. Drivers can plan their trip in advance on their iPhone or simply enter their destination through Apple CarPlay when they get into the car. Either way, Apple Maps will automatically pick the optimal route based on electric range and the locations of charging stations along the way. This seamless, simple feature will first be available for BMW in the fully electric BMW i4 launching next year. However, the high costs can be said to be, in a way, justifiable. The high standards of living which permeate through everyday life in Singapore and the availability of top jobs and companies setting base here are all factors which have resulted in an ever-increasing influx of expatriates relocating to the country. Nevertheless, despite the limited land space due to the small size of the Lion City, therein lies several opportunities for core real estate investments of which values are expected to continuously appreciate over the next few years. Every single submarket of Singapore’s real estate industry (with the exception of the retail property market) has shown signs of rapid recovery after analysts have presumed them to already currently bottom out. As such, with counter-cyclical opportunities in abundance, this entails a question of ‘how-to-invest’ by foreign investors looking to tap into the market. If you are a foreigner wondering how to do so, here is a quick and easy 3-step guide: Step 1: Firstly, it is important to understand that there are no restrictions to buying commercial or industrial properties. However, for residential properties, they are categorised into those that are restricted and unrestricted for foreigners under Singapore’s Residential Property Act. Under this Act, a foreigner is disallowed from acquiring the following properties unless he/she obtains the prior approval from the Land Dealings Approval Unit (LDAU) from the Singapore Land Authority:
However, the following are non-restricted residential properties which can be purchased under the aforesaid Act:
Based on this knowledge, one can then decide on the market that he/she would invest in. This brings us to Step 2: Contacting an agent + Consideration of costs Step 2: Once a property has been aimed for, or decided on and approved, one can should then approach a seller or an estate agent to express interest and reach an agreement on the price. Upon doing so, it is important to take note of the costs which are as follows:
a. *Stamp duty (refer to point 3 for further info): up to 3% of property value
a. Buyer’s Stamp Duty (BSD) This is payable for all types of property purchased and based on the purchase price or the market value of the property (also known as the ‘Base’, whichever is higher. With a progressive rate of 1% to 3%, the rates are as follows:
Source: IRAS b. Additional Buyer Stamp Duty (ABSD) On the other hand, the ABSD is payable only for the purchase of residential properties. The calculation for it, like BSD, is based on the purchase price or market value of the property, whichever is higher. However, should you be a foreigner (or permanent resident, for that matter), the payable rates are as follows:
Source: IRAS Another point to take note of is the fact that if a property is of mixed-use type, then the ABSD is calculated via the ‘Base’ which can be attributed to the residential component only. Step 3: Finally, once the property has been successfully purchased… it is not the end yet! There are other unavoidable costs: annual taxes. There are 2 main forms of taxes which one must take note of:
Besides all the other costs (and also maintenance costs), one has to pay an annual property tax as well. According to IRAS, this can be calculated as follows: Annual property tax = Annual Value of property (AV) x Tax rate payable. Now just to be clear, the AV is an adjusted figure of the projected annual rent that you could have earned from the property based on current market conditions. On the other hand, the tax rate payable is on a progressive basis of between 0 to 16%, depending on the AV of the property.
The other taxation only applies if you actually earn rental income from the property you purchased. You have to declare the amount on your income tax return statement form, under the section of ‘Other income: rent from property’. Nevertheless, this can be calculated via the following formula: Taxable Rental Income = Annual Rent – Deductible Costs. These costs include the following: interest paid on home loans, property taxes, fire insurance, costs for maintenance and utility bills. Foreigners who spend at least 183 days of the tax year in Singapore will have to pay a progressive income tax rate of 0-20%, otherwise, the rental income is taxed at a flat rate of 20%. However, to make things easier, IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) has posted an excel sheet on their page for this which enables you to simply key in the numbers for the projected taxable rental income, under the ‘Rental Calculator’ section. All-in-all, these are the main procedures and important things to take note of should you desire to invest in properties in Singapore. However, amidst all the applications, another essential step is to select the best financing options for your property purchase. For that, in order to save time on research, enquiries and ultimately mitigate costs, it would be wise to contact a Singapore-based mortgage advisory company such as Redbrick to assist you in facilitating an efficient acquisition. – Joel TangJoel started his career processing and underwriting credit applications in a large offshore bank in Singapore. According to the media, Lim had written a letter to the party, where he pointed that he maintains a clear conscience but had decided to withdraw from the election so as not to disrupt PAP’s election campaign. The party expressed regret over his decision but respect the reasons behind his withdrawal. Lim who was introduced as a PAP candidate on Wednesday (24 June), has been critized over the past few days online over his character and moral ethics by his colleagues at Keppel Offshore and Marine (KOM), fellow army comrades. Not just that but also various allegations and criticisms from polytechnic school mates and neighbours. Most of the criticisms centred on his “arrogant, selfish and elitist” attitude as a commanding officer (CO) in military service, and uncompassionate ill-treatment of colleagues and subordinates as assistant general manager (AGM) and general manager (GM) at the shipyard organisation. A petition on Change.org calling for the removal of Ivan Lim from GE was also created on Friday (26 June). It asked the public to sign if “they do not want him to be a member of parliament, regardless of whether he is in PAP or an (alternative) party.” So far, it has garnered over 20,000 signatures at the time of writing. First Assistant Secretary-General Heng Swee Keat has urged Lim on Saturday (27 June) at a walkabout at Teban Market and Food Centre to “clarify these complaints and comments.” “I have emphasised that integrity and character are very important in our candidates, and whether that individual has the heart to serve all Singaporeans. We expect our candidates to be able to stand up and address any concerns that were raised about them,” added Mr Heng. Just a few hours ago before Lim’s resignation as PAP’s running candidate, PAP’s office issued a press statement on behalf of Lim where he addressed the criticisms. He began by saying he was doing this because “his family is affected, especially his mother.” He then dived straight into the allegations of the Brazilian bribery incident insisting it was “completely baseless and untrue” and that he “was not involved in any of the Brazilian projects.” As to his actions in the military as CO, Lim said that “people can have different perspectives of the same incident,” and that it was due to “high standards he set for his unit as CO” and things “that he was prepared to do himself.” In response to incidents at KOM, he again stated that “high standards were required in the shipyard industry” and that “many colleagues have been promoted and done well during (his) tenure as AGM and GM.” Lim ended by saying “the test (of) politics has come sooner than (he) has expected” but wishes to convey that he is “determined to stay the course.” Netizen answers call by Heng Swee Keat to clarify comments on PAP candidate Ivan LimOne of the netizens who come forward with negative stories of Lim, has offered to have a conversation about his statement of encounter with Mr Lim. In a Facebook post on Saturday (27 June), the netizen, Mr Bryant Wong, addressed First Assistant Secretary-General of PAP Heng Swee Keat directly, saying, “Mr Heng – Feel free to reach out anytime. I am willing to standby my statement of encounter with Mr Ivan Lim which I’ve put up.” “I would ask for our conversation to be put on record and made available to fellow Singaporeans given we both recognize the importance to verify the character of candidates,” he added. The original post alleged that Ivan Lim was “condescending” and an “elitist”About two days prior, Mr Wong had shared a story on his Facebook page detailing an encounter he had with Mr Lim when they were both in the NS Combat Engineering Battalion. Mr Lim was Mr Wong’s commanding officer then, said the post. In his story, Mr Wong alleged that during an outfield exercise in Khatib Bongsu back in 2013, Mr Lim spoke “using a condescending voice” to tell others not to step into the air-conditioned tent he was using. “His action and speech were simply that of an elitist,” wrote Mr Wong. He went on to say, “There were other instances during Battalion briefings where he would always [pepper] the briefings with his personal achievement (how he is a GM at shipyard, how many people reporting to him at work, etc).” “He [Mr Lim] was never well liked by the soldiers and commanders of the Battalion due to his constant “humble brag” and driving around camp in his expensive cars.” Mr Wong concluded his post asking, “So now he is going into politics to represent the ordinary folks in Parliament. With his character and personality – will he?”

The post Online backlash forces Singapore’s PAP to drop Ivan Lim as election candidate appeared first on TinySG. via TinySG https://tinysg.com/online-backlash-forces-singapores-pap-to-drop-ivan-lim-as-election-candidate/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=online-backlash-forces-singapores-pap-to-drop-ivan-lim-as-election-candidate – Advertisement – Singapore — One of the areas likely to be hotly contested by the Workers’ Party and the People’s Action Party in the General Election (GE) is the new Sengkang Group Representation Constituency (GRC), according to a report in channelnewsasia.com. The new GRC is made up of the previous Sengkang West SMC and Punggol East SMC, as well as areas from Pasir-Ris Punggol GRC, and will have more than 117,000 voters. The report quotes former Nominated Member of Parliament Eugene Tan as saying that the WP will “almost certainly” challenge the PAP in the new GRC. “Will one of the Aljunied GRC MPs lead the WP team there? Regardless, the WP will give the PAP a run for its money,” he added.Associate Professor Tan, who is with the Singapore Management University, also said the GRC has a younger electorate, many of whom are in their 20s, 30s and 40s and who may not have the same level of loyalty to the PAP as older Singaporeans. “It’s also a new GRC and so the advantage of incumbency is somewhat reduced,” he said. However, former PAP MP Inderjit Singh, disagreed with this, saying: “PAP will have an upper hand because of the demography of this area — young families who want stability of government.” – Advertisement – But he did call the new GRC an “interesting and tough battleground”. “We can expect the PAP to send a strong minister to helm this, so we are likely to see changes on who the candidates will be.” According to Professor Bilveer Singh of the Political Science Department at the National University of Singapore, the WP holds “strong appeal” in Sengkang West, Punggol East, Hougang and Aljunied. There has been talk that Mr Ng Chee Meng, Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress and an MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, could anchor the PAP slate in Sengkang. However, Prof Singh warned: “Even if Ng Chee Meng stands there as a major minister, or anyone else, I think it’s not going to be easy going.” Another observer, Mr Leonard Lim, the country director of Singapore at government affairs and public policy consultancy Vriens & Partners, said the battle could heat up especially if the WP fields someone well-known in Sengkang, such as Non-Constituency Member of Parliament Gerald Giam and former Punggol East MP Lee Li Lian. And there could be more problems for the PAP if the opposition targets Dr Lam Pin Min, the former MP for Sengkang West and Senior Minister of State for Transport, due to flak over the banning of personal mobility devices on footpaths late in 2019. The PAP could face even more difficulties as two key MPs in the area, Mr Charles Chong of the Punggol East ward and Mr Teo Ser Luck of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, may be retiring this year. Mr Lim said: “The PAP may be fielding a combination of an MP from another ward and a new face here as a result, and if there is no heavyweight candidate or current minister to anchor the team, the WP will certainly fancy its chances.” Other parties may also be interested in this GRC. Some observers say that Dr Tan Cheng Bock’s Progress Singapore Party could also field candidates in the new GRC. Another possibility is the Singapore Democratic Alliance, which had contested in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC during the 2015 General Election. /TISG – Advertisement – The post Hot contest expected between WP and PAP in new Sengkang GRC – appeared first on TinySG. via TinySG https://tinysg.com/hot-contest-expected-between-wp-and-pap-in-new-sengkang-grc/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hot-contest-expected-between-wp-and-pap-in-new-sengkang-grc As Singapore shifts out of its Circuit Breaker phase, eateries all around the island have once again begun operations in earnest.
